Caution: Low Shoulder
"Caution: Low Shoulder" is an obvious danger sign. On the highway,
it means to watch where you're going. If you get too close to the side of the
road, you'll slide off into the ditch where you might get stuck or even roll
your car. When you have a low shoulder, you may be in danger of sliding off
into ill health. A low shoulder can often indicate a musculo-skeletal (muscles
and the bones they're attached to) imbalance that can create functional problems,
as well as, pain.
Stand in front of a mirror. Is one shoulder lower than the other? Sometimes,
you can tell this because one shirtsleeve always seems longer or your collar
isn't ever quite straight. Also, look for one ear higher than the other due
to abnormal head tilt. Your chin might dip left or right which is caused by
muscle spasms on one side of the neck while the other side is too loose. Have
someone check you from the side. Your neck should have a nice forward curve
if it is healthy. If your jaw seems to jut out farther than your forehead like
a giraffe stretching for leaves or you have a ramrod or military neck, this
is cause for caution. This is cause to have your neck checked for spinal misalignments
that can contribute to headaches, neck pain, shoulder and arm pain, numbness
and tingling, and a variety of other unhealthy conditions. Chiropractors are
the Highway Maintenance Crew for "Low Shoulder". You spot the danger
signs and we'll go into action to help you get back on the road to health.
